Research, Innovations and Extension
The vibrant environment of the college encourages both the faculty and the students to engage in active research, innovations and extension activities.
- The Research Consultancy Committee plays a pivotal in not just bolstering research acumen of the students, but it promotes research activities among the faculty members as well. A number of teachers are pursuing their Ph.Ds. while many of them have already been awarded their doctoral degrees. Alongside, some teachers have applied for research grants from various funding agencies.
- Many number of research papers have been published, of which 86 feature on the UGC- Care list.Besides 59 book chapters/ papers in conference proceedings have also been published.
- The Seminar Committee of the college plays a key role in diffusion of knowledge, by organizing seminars/webinars and also goes on to provide every possible support to departments keen on organizing such programmes. In the period, 2018-2023, 63 seminars/webinars/workshops/lectures were organized on diverse topics. Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation sponsored one of its seminars. The College has also secured RUSA grants that helped in procuring various books, research and laboratory equipment.
- Asansol Girls’ College in order to instil in the students the real value of education makes them go
beyond classroom learning to the greater community and develop a sense of responsibility towards all beings. Hence, the College in sync with the various government programmes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Jan Shakti for Jal Shakti, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Swacch Bharat Mission and others had undertaken several such extension and outreach programmes in its humble endeavour to make a positive impact in the society. The different departments along with the Social Activity Committee, the NCC, the NSS, the Science Propagation Committee, the College Environmental Committee and the Women’s Forum work throughout the year. During the period 2018-2023, 47 extension and outreach programmes were undertaken.
- The institution has also received 9 recognitions for its service from governmental and nongovernmental bodies.
- The college has 43 MOUs and linkages with various institutes to promote collaboration in academic and non-academic spheres that include faculty exchange programmes, career guidance, e-waste management among others.
