Asansol Girls’ College, affiliated to Kazi Nazrul University, stands as a beacon of women’s education in this region a sanctuary of learning, aspiration, and empowerment since 1950. Founded through the vision and dedication of Dr. Lalit Mohan Sen and Smt. Kamala Sen, and strengthened by the untiring efforts of Dr. Anjali Roy, the College has grown from its modest beginnings at Manimala Girls’ High School into a vibrant institution that shapes dreams and transforms lives.
For over seven decades, we have remained steadfast in our mission to liberate the mind, enrich character, and nurture a spirit of inquiry. Rooted in the values of knowledge, integrity, and empowerment, the College provides an environment where every young woman is encouraged to discover her potential and walk with confidence.
Asansol Girls' College, a premier institution of this coalfield and industrial region of West Bengal came into existence in 1950 mainly as a result of untiring efforts of Dr. Lalit Mohan Sen, the then CSO, Mines Board of Health and his worthy consort Smt. Kamala Sen. From the humble beginning in the premises of the Manimala Girls' High School the college soon blossomed into maturity and was shifted to its new building in 1962. During the difficult years of its adolescence, the college was fortunate to have Dr. Anjali Roy as its principal. She was a dedicated educationist, who with the help of a team of devoted colleagues nurtured the college as one of the most prestigious institutions under the Kazi Nazrul University. In 1969 a Morning Section was opened to meet the increasing demand for higher education of girls of this area.
